Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect in therapy with you?
Our first session will include a brief review of intake paperwork, practice policies, and an in-depth conversation about you and what brings you to therapy. At the end of this session, you and I will solidify clear goals and objectives you have for therapy and discuss how we’ll know when you’re making progress towards them.
Typical psychotherapy sessions after that are 55 minutes, though in some cases, people benefit from extended sessions (85 minutes). The content of therapy sessions will change as you do, and we will periodically revisit your goals to ensure our work is aligned with your intentions for therapy.
I frequently offer at-home practices designed to help you continue your therapeutic progress in between sessions. Progress is more substantial and happens faster with active participation both in therapy sessions and in between them.
How often will we meet?
Therapy is generally most effective at a weekly frequency if finances allow. You and I will work together to determine an appropriate frequency of sessions based on your therapeutic goals and financial needs.
How long will I be in therapy?
This is completely up to you! Some people are going through a brief period of transition or challenge and are looking for extra support during that time only, while others are hoping to understand and modify significant things about themselves that take time.
How much does therapy with you cost?
Every client will receive a complementary 20-minute phone consult to ensure we’re a good fit prior to scheduling a session.
55-minute session | $190
85-minute session | $295
In compliance with the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance. However, many plans offer out-of-network benefits for psychotherapy and I can provide you with a superbill at the end of each month to file for reimbursement. Contact your insurance provider about your coverage if out-of-pocket pay is not a feasible option for you.
Please note that I cannot accept clients with Medicaid, even if you can pay out of pocket.
Do you offer reduced fees?
I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots if you are in need of a reduced fee. All my sliding scale spots are currently full and I keep this section updated as that changes.
How does payment work?
I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant payment system that was explicitly designed for therapists. Your credit card information will be encrypted and stored in an app called IvyPay and will never be visible to me.
Where will we meet?
I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant subscription to Zoom for therapy sessions. You’ll receive a link to the meeting platform prior to our first session and can use the same link for every session after that. I do not currently offer in-person sessions.
What is your cancellation policy?
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Sessions missed without 24+ hours notice will be billed in full, except in cases of true emergency.
